*Message of solidarity to the 2. International Seminar on the Massacres of Political Prisoners in Iran in 1988, from the Norwegian party Red: *

19 years after the terrible massacres of political prisoners in Iran in
the summer of 1988, these heinous crimes have neither been investigated
nor apoligized for by the government of Iran, nor have thoseresponsible
been charged and tried for their crimes.

We in the party Red in Norway wish to express our solidarity with the International Seminar in Cologne 24-26th of August, and hope that this can help raise this issue internationally. It is of the greatest importance that the crimes committed in 1988 are recognized internationally, both in order to seek redress for the victims and their families and to try to prevent similar acts in the future. Innocent people are still being suppressed and persecuted by the Iranian regime today.

Our party supports your demands:
1. That an independent International Commission should be established and allowed to enter Iran in order to investigate the incidents of the summer of 1988, to clarify the facts about the numbers executed, their identity, their sites of burial and the circumstances of their executions

2. This Commission should be able to contact and support the families
and relatives of the victims.

3. This Commission should have the authority to place personal
responsibility where it belongs.

We wish to send our warmest greetings to the participants and organizers
of the seminar, and on behalf of the membership and leadership of the Red party we also send our greetings to the women and men who courageously fight against the current regime in Iran in the struggle to obtain justice for the victims of persecution, and justice and democratic rights for your people in the future.
