Report from the Conference ”Free All Political Prisoners of the World”
Copenhagen, October 22 – 24, 2010
The conference had 150 - 200 participants coming from: Iran, Basque Country, Turkey, Palestine, Lebanon, The Philippines, Kurdistan, Colombia, Mexico, USA, Germany, Sweden, Norway, England and Denmark.
At the final plenary session the following decisions for the future were taken:
1) Establishing a common webpage “Free All Political Prisoners of the World”. The webpage shall have links to all the organizations represented at the conference and to other interested organizations. The webpage will currently inform about the situation of the political prisoners in the various countries and about various initiatives of solidarity towards political prisoners etc.
2) Designation of a “Follow Up Group” to operate the webpage and be responsible for the carrying out of the activities proposed at the conference. (see the group below)
3) Preparation of tribunals on political prisoners
4) Sending of delegations of solidarity to trials against political activists
5) Elaboration of lists with the names of political prisoners in the various countries and sending of letters to the prisoners and possibly adoption of political prisoners
6) Designation of an international day/week for the political prisoners
7) Creation of documentary films about the political prisoners
8) Edition of a book with poems written by the political prisoners
9) Creation of an a-mail list for all the participants of the conference
10) Preparation of future conferences on political prisoners
